Streszczenie
Celem artykułu jest ilościowa ocena przenikania włókien azbestu z zewnętrznych źródeł do wnętrza, na podstawie bilansu zmian liczby włókien w powietrzu zewnętrznym i wewnętrznym. Porównano, zanieczyszczenie powietrza wewnętrznego budynku z elewacją z płyt azbestowo-cementowych podczas: normalnej, bez destrukcyjnej eksploatacji poprzedzającej jej demontaż i w trakcie. Budynek był w ciągłym użytkowaniu. Oznaczenie koncentracji włókien azbestu prowadzono z użyciem mikroskopii optycznej kontrastu fazowego i polaryzacji światła oraz mikroskopii skaningowej SEM-EDS. Wynik badań określający transmisję włókien do wnętrza obiektu przedstawiono graficznie w formie trendów zmian koncentracji włókien azbestu w różnych etapach demontażu w pomieszczeniach nieużytkowanych i użytkowanych.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to quantitatively assess the infiltration of asbestos fibres from outdoor sources into a building interior based on the mass balance of changes in airborne fibre concentrations in outdoor and indoor air. Indoor air pollution was compared in an occupied building clad with asbestos-cement panels under two conditions: during normal, non-destructive use prior to façade removal and during the removal process. The building remained continuously occupied throughout the study. Airborne asbestos fibre concentrations were determined using phase-contrast and polarised-light optical microscopy, as well as scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDS). The results describing fibre transmission into the building were presented graphically as trends in asbestos fibre concentrations at different stages of façade removal, both in occupied and unoccupied rooms. Emissions generated in the immediate vicinity of the façade were found to have a significant impact on indoor air quality. Commonly used building-isolation procedures limited to closing windows and sealing them with adhesive tape proved ineffective in rooms with active ventilation. Artificial intelligence (AI) was used to analyse and interpret changes in fibre concentrations.
