Abstract
The aim of this article is to present the current state of knowledge on decentralized façade ventilation systems, particularly with regard to the efficiency of heat recovery and the impact of external conditions on the operation of such systems. The analysis covered articles and conference papers of decentralized façade ventilation systems from the last 11 years, which were obtained from selected databases. The publications were selected on the basis of specific criteria, including, amongst others: the availability of the full text (“open access”), and materials published in Polish and English. The search for articles was carried out using appropriately selected keywords. The selected publications were divided into several thematic sections, which included: the energy efficiency of façade systems, the ability to maintain appropriate indoor air quality, heat recovery efficiency, the impact of external factors on the operating of this type of systems and their disadvantages. A review of the literature has shown that decentralised ventilation systems are an effective solution for maintaining suitable indoor conditions. A significant problem is the impact of adverse external conditions, which can reduce the efficiency of heat recovery and affect the air flow rate.
